Prep Information Evening

This evening is held during December and is for parents only. During this event an overview of the schools programs will be presented and information regarding the ordering of the school uniform will be distributed. All parents are asked to attend.

Transition Sessions

These are held in November each year. Three sessions are offered where children coming into Prep visit the school to “experience” life in the classroom. At these sessions the children will work with school staff and get to know the other children who will be attending. The staff will also have this time to observe each child and get to know them.

Children starting in classes other than Prep will have their own Transition session in early December.

Please Note: ACCEPTANCE OF A NON-CATHOLIC STUDENT AT OUR PARISH SCHOOL DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENROLMENT AT A CATHOLIC SECONDARY COLLEGE.

Enrolment Policy

Children who have been baptised in St. Peter’s Parish are enrolled. Priority for enrolment is given to the brothers and sisters of students who currently attend St. Peter’s. Children who have been baptised in other parishes and are residents in the Clayton area are enrolled. These practices are in accordance with the enrolment policy for the Melbourne Archdiocese which gives priority of access to catholic students. There is consultation with the Parish Priest of neighbouring parishes if a child from that Parish is to be enrolled.
Students of other faiths are enrolled:
  • If parents have an expressed desire for an education within a faith context and have similar values.
  • If space is available.

Please Note:
Children of other faiths who are accepted into St. Peter’s Primary School are not guaranteed a place in Catholic Secondary Schools. These schools have their own Enrolment Policies which are independent of our own school policies.

Students who are members of non-Catholic Oriental Churches are offered a place if space is available. This is done in accordance with Archdiocesan Policy Enrolment #2 which recognises the special relationship of the Catholic Church and these churches.

Students from all socio-economic backgrounds should have access to a Catholic Education in our Parish School. The Archdiocesan Policy states that ability to pay school fees should not be criterion for enrolling catholic students.

Enrolment at St. Peter’s is not dependent on students meeting given academic criteria.
* Should a student fit the Integration Criteria, a Program Support Group would be established to ascertain whether St. Peter’s could offer an education appropriate to meet the child’s needs.
Children must turn 5 years of age before the 30th April in the year they are commencing school.
