Student Wellbeing
ST PETER'S PRIMARY SCHOOL
Wellbeing encompasses all dimensions of life within a Catholic school community.
At St Peter’s Primary School we believe in providing a safe and inclusive learning environment to ensure learners have the best opportunities to strive for excellence, take risks and reach their potential. We believe nurturing the wellbeing of the whole person spiritually, emotionally and physically is essential to develop healthy relationships with others.
At St Peter’s Primary School we work toward establishing as many links as possible between home, school and the community. We have a dedicated Student Wellbeing Leader and have a range of initiatives to foster Wellbeing in our school. Some examples of this are:
-
Kidsmatter
-
Bounce Back
-
Orientation to school (for new Preps) - Buddy Program
-
Transition to secondary school (for Yr 6)
-
Extra-Curricular Activities - Instrumental Lessons
-
Student orientated lunchtime clubs (coding, chess, sports etc)
Social and Emotional Learning
Social and Emotional Learning is the process through which we learn to recognise and manage emotions, care about others, make good decisions, behave ethically and responsibly, develop positive relationships and avoid negative behaviours. At St Peter’s Primary School this is part of daily programs and school life.
Our Garden to Kitchen Program
At St Peter’s Primary School we value and promote healthy living. We have a kitchen garden with twelve garden beds as well as a variety of fruit trees within our school grounds. We have eight chickens. We plant seasonal vegetables in our garden and then harvest these before preparing them to share together. We promote healthy eating and seasonality.
