Religious Education curriculum
At the heart of Religious Education at St Peter’s is a desire to help every child encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and become a person of hope, compassion, and integrity. We provide rich opportunities for students to know, understand, celebrate, and live their faith through prayer, liturgy, service, and reflection.
Our Religious Education program is grounded in the Religious Education Curriculum Framework developed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne. This curriculum invites students into a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith, with an emphasis on:
Engagement with Sacred Scripture and Church tradition.
Knowledge of Catholic beliefs, practices, and moral teaching.
Participation in prayer, sacramental life, and the liturgical year.
Critical and creative thinking about how faith relates to contemporary life.
This framework places the learner at the centre and recognises that the journey of faith is lifelong, dynamic, and personal. It supports a holistic and inquiry-based approach to Religious Education that encourages students to make meaningful connections between faith, life, and culture.
Students at St Peter’s participate regularly in:
Whole-school and class Masses and liturgical celebrations
Sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation in partnership with families and our parish
Daily prayer and seasonal reflections
Social justice projects, stewardship initiatives, and opportunities for service
Religious inquiry that deepens understanding and connects faith to the world
